By visiting Normandy, Paris Vision suggests taking you back to the 6th June 1944, the day of the Normandy landings. Museum, historical sites, memory sites… the day will be emotionally intense.
On June 6, 1944, the Normandy coast from Caen all the way to the Cotentin became the theatre of the largest landing operation in military history. Thousands of soldiers gave their lives to liberate Europe from the Nazi yoke.
No one can be indifferent during a D-day tour in Normandy. The chaos of the images of the landings filmed in 1944 gives way to the now natural peace of each beach. But the memory of sacrifice of so many men remains.

The highpoint of the Normandy tour is the American cemetery near Omaha Beach. The bus skirts around the famous beach where one can well imagine the ferocity of the fighting during the landings.
In 1944, Normandy was chosen by the allies for the landings of the most formidable armada ever. In the morning of June 6, thousands of soldiers disembarked on the beach.
Once the allies had secured the first few kilometres, a mammoth operation was put into place to supply the armies. In less that 15 days, the allies constructed the artificial port of Arromanches which allowed the Normandy landings to be successful.

The pointe du Hoc, Omaha Beach, the port of Arromanches : these three sites symbolize the Normandy landing operation of allied armies in June 1944. It marked the beginning of the liberation of France and Europe.
9,386 American soldiers are buried in the American cemetery near Omaha Beach. The great loss testified to the extreme difficulties the armies faced on the first few days of the landings. The visit to the cemetery is a highlight of the Normandy tour.
