Details - A day at Versailles: Royal Palace and the Trianons


From April 1st to  October 31st : Departure at 8.45 am on Tuesday, Thrusday and Saturday (except on may 1st).
From November 1st to March 31st: departure 8.54am tuesday and saturday.



We suggest you start your day in Versailles with a guided morning visit of the Royal Apartments. This will be followed by a walk around the Palace’s park, passing through some of the “Groves” (summer) or an excursion by miniature train around the "Grand Parc" (winter). Lunch is taken in the restaurant “la Petite Venise”.

The afternoon will continue with a guided visit of the Trianon (vast mansion-style lodges where Louis XV and Louis XVI liked to work and retire from court life) and a discovery tour of Queen’s hamlet (where from 1783 Marie Antoinette played as a shepherdess).

Some history :

• Louis XIII’s hunting lodge was converted and enlarged by his son Louis XIV
into the seat of the court and the government of France from 1682.
• New apartments were added to the Château in the 18th century under
orders of Louis XV and Louis XVI.
• The royal family was forced to abandon Versailles on October 6, 1789 after
the fi rst days of the French Revolution.
• In 1837, the king Louis-Philippe inaugurated in the Château the Museum
devoted to « all the glories of France ».
