From 1661, Louis XIV built what was to become the most prestigious residence of all the courts of Europe with world famous architects and decorators such as Le Vau, Mansart and Le Nôtre for the gardens.
To enhance your visit, we’ll provide in the coach special audio tapes which explain the different facets of life at Versailles during the reign of Louis XIV, the « Sun King. »

The tapes will help you plan your free time to visit the château and the gardens.

Your entrance ticket (included) give you access on your own to: the Royal Apartments, the Hall of Mirrors, the Dauphin’s and his wife’s Apartments.

An audio guide will be provided in eight languages: French, English, German, Spanish, Italian,
Japanese, Russian and Chinese-Mandarin.

Some history :

• Versailles is the model of the typical French garden laid out between
1661 and 1700 by Le Nôtre who levelled off the land, drained it and landscaped
the views, bosquets, canals and fl ower beds. The gardens are adorned
with more than 400 marble, bronze and led statues and fountains animated
by water features illustrating for instance the myth of the sun-god Apollo.

Additional fee of 8€ on the days of the special Fountains Show programme :

In addition to the usual programme we suggest that you wander around the groves and pools where
the magnificent display of fountains reveals the skill and artistry of three centuries of French garden design and engineering. The display is accompanied by music from one of the famous composers from the court of Louis XIV.
