Details - Guided tour of the Château of Versailles

 
From April 1st to March 31st : departure at 8.45 am and 2.00 pm everyday except on Monday and except May 1st, December 25th, January 1st and 1st Sunday of the month during winter.

All through the excursion, our guide interpreter will bring back to life the Palace of Versailles where, from 1682, Louis XIV officially installed the court and government of the Kingdom.

In particular, you will discover the Great Royal Apartments, the Hall of Mirrors and the Queen’s Apartments.

Free time at the end of the excursion to stroll through the French gardens surrounded by sculptures (statues, busts, marble vases) made from 1661 by teams of sculptors initially supervised by Charles Le Brun, the King’s leading painter.

Entrance tickets to the palace and the gardens included.
No queuing access with Paris Vision on this tour!


Additional fee of 8€ on the days of the special Fountains Show programme:
FONTAINS SHOW DATES: Saturdays and Sundays from April 3st to October 31st + May 13th and July 14th
+ Thuesdays from May 18th to June 29th.

MUSICAL GARDENS DATES:
Avril 2nd, May 4th,11th and 14th + Thuesdays from July 6th to September 28th.

Some history :

• Louis XIII’s hunting lodge was converted and enlarged by his son Louis XIV

into the seat of the court and the government of France from 1682.

• New apartments were added to the Château in the 18th century under

orders of Louis XV and Louis XVI.

• The royal family was forced to abandon Versailles on October 6, 1789 after

the fi rst days of the French Revolution.

• In 1837, the king Louis-Philippe inaugurated in the Château the Museum

devoted to « all the glories of France ».
